Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins State Park 2

The mill was driven by a steam engine.  It operated from 1851 to 1864.

One of many pits around the press.  Molasses was the residue after process in the cane into sugar.  The molasses was sold to make rum.

 Another pit

An overall view of the pit area.

For this trip we took the Honda as there are no camping facilities at this state park.

Tippy says, "I had to wait in the car.  Ron wouldn't let me to to the mill because we would have had to cross a busy highway and he was afraid that I might get hit by a car.  Ron loves me."

That's all for a while.  We don't have any trips planned for the next month - but something may turn up.  You can never tell.
