Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins SP

Like many Florida county roads, the highway to the Old Sugar Mill is flat, smooth and straight.

The site of the Yulee Sugar Mill State Park was once part of a thriving sugar plantation owned by David Yulee.

This pavilion is available to State Park visitors - first come first served.  Grills and picnic tables are scattered throughout the park.

The highway runs right through the park.  David Yulee was a member of the Florida Territorial Legislative Council and served in the U. S. House of Representatives and U. S. Senate after Florida became a state.

The park contains the remnants of a 5100-acre sugar plantation. This 40-foot  limestone masonry chimney, iron gears and a cane press are what is left.

Sugar press.
