Look who came to visit Tippy and me at our house today.
A female Sandhill Crane. She may be looking for a nesting place. They usually lay two eggs and incubate them for about a month.
Here she is with her better half. He has the red top.
She's busy getting a drink of water from the bird bath.
The next day, Tippy spotted the male checking out our walking path.
He was not the least bit afraid of me. He walked right up and let me take his picture. Tippy didn't know whether to bark or run.
When we got back from our walk, Tippy noticed sand flying up around the power pole in our back yard.
When we investigated, this is what we found. A turtle digging a nesting hole.
They are called by many different names - I call them turtles. Tippy says that she calls them friends.
After welcoming all those visitors, Tippy curled up in her favorite spot - on the back of the couch - She can look out the window or sleep in the sunshine here.
That's all for today. Tomorrow, we go to the Old Sugar Mill State Park.
