FMCA Rally - 2nd Day - Lakeland, FL

The rally is held at the Lindler Airport in Lakeland, Florida.  Also located there is the Florida Air Museum.  This is a picture of a Russian MIG 23 - licensed as experimental.

Here you can see the MIG 23 and Treky close together - Huh?  Small planes and taxiway in background.

There is a very active High School Flying Club here too.

Small planes parked behind Treky

I'm told that Piedmont Airlines donated this plane to the museum.

This is a VTOL - Vertical Takeoff and Landing Navy aircraft.  The idea is to take off vertically from an aircraft carrier, then level out to horizontal and fly - In my opinion, it never worked - required too much power to lift off.

On the left is a plane/boat.  It's a boat that is designed to look like the fuselage of an aircraft.  It belonged to Howard Hughes at one time.  He was intelligent to the point of kookiness (just my opinion).

Some small planes

Sleek looking private jet with Navy fighter jet in background.

Better view of the Navy jet.

Museum entrance - They wouldn't let Tippy in so I didn't go in either.  Don't know what is inside but I bet it is nice.

This little airplane folds up so that it is no wider than a small car.

I think I would like to have one of these.  I could tow it behind Treky...

Folks, we have made a big decision - We, Ron, Tippy and Treky are going to move to Florida.  Downsizing from 86 years of living is taking time and will not be posting for the next month - then we will resume as we head for a rally in Chandler, Arizona about the first of March.

Hope to see you then,

Ron, Tippy and Treky
