Kings Mountain National Military Park

Tippy-Too was goofing off yesterday complaining about everything.  She wants to travel - NOW!

Treky suggested that the Kings Mountain National Military Park might be interesting and it's only a couple of hundred miles away.  Maybe we could make it round trip in one day.

Kings Mountain is a unique battle - It was one of the few battles fought entirely between Americans - No British troops were involved.  My GGGG Grandfather, Peter Strozier was one of the Whigs (Patriots) involved in this battle.

This is a picture of the same sign but I wanted to show the beautiful forest behind the sign.

This is the main road inside the park.

Can you imagine what this view will be next month when the leaves turn?

Two parks in one.  The National Military Park is on the border of North Carolina and South Carolina.

The Kings Mountain State Park is part of the South Carolina state park system.  Camping facilities are available here.

More on the Kings Mountain Military Park tomorrow.
