Camden, SC Revolutionary Site #3

The Drakeford House

This Drakeford House is more like most of the homes in the Revolutionary War times. - just a simple log cabin - only one window.

More about this fence later.  It surrounded Camden and kept the inhabitants inside - They couldn't escape.

Women in the Revolutionary War.

Camp followers took their children and everything they owned following their husbands, brothers, fathers to the battles.  Artist Concept

There is a lot of open space here at the park.  Tippy-Too appreciates the shade.  The temperature here today is in the low 80s.

The Palisade Wall

The wall was very effective.  This is an actual scale reproduction.

Tippy-Too laying on her belly in the cool sand.  She loves visiting places where she is allowed.

I thought that this was interesting.  Can you imagine baking bread in this oven when the temperature is in the 90's?  First you have to build a fire.

In two weeks, we head to Perry, Georgia for a Good Sam Rally.  We hope to see you then.

Ron, Tippy-Too and Treky
