Helen, Georgia

A few years ago, the town of Helen, Georgia was just another run-down, worn out Appalachian distress story.

The town was reborn as an Alpine Village.

Store fronts were painted to resemble Alpine architecture.

Old hip roofs were torn off and replaced with structures reminiscent of Austrian and German Alps villages.

 Restaurants started serving German food.

One thing they had going for them is the cool North Georgia temperatures.  At 11am yesterday, the temperature was 64 degrees (F).

This was an old feed store - Now it hosts  a beer garden and cloggers and October fests year round.

Come on Ron, Lets get on to Hot Springs, Arkansas - No one's interested in an Alpine village in Georgia

OK, we hope to be in Hot Springs National Park tomorrow and we hope to see you there.

Ron, Tippy-Too and Treky
