San Antonio Winery

Treky is parked at the Santa Anita Racetrack.  You can see the San Gabriel mountains in the background. Dogs are not allowed at the starting gate but somehow, Tippy convinced the horse handlers that he is really a very small boy and got to see a race start.  Buses picked me up at the racetrack and took me to the various programs.

One attraction the bus took me to was the San Antonio Winery.  It is the oldest winery in Southern California and also the largest.  It was founded during Prohibition days and got around the law by claiming the they only produced "Sacramental Wine".  They explained that white wine is bottled immediately after fermentation but red wine requires aging in these barrels.

The guide said that this barrel holds 3000 gallons of wine ready to be bottled.

The winery dining room was decorated for Christmas.

I was served a seven course meal.

The salad - There were six forks one spoon and three knives at each place setting.

The main course was chicken, vegetables and mashed potatoes and gravy.

We were serenaded by a guitarist during our meal.

I was able to sneak a little chicken out in a folded paper napkin for Tippy,
